Draft 18:58 to Good Evening Thank you for delivering the news. May I kindly ask for any feedback from the interview and why I didn't succeed in the interview? I have restaurant experience and I'd be glad to showcase my Waiting skills in all parts of the B restaurant if you have any available positions, and would be so kind to give me a chance. I enjoyed my trial shift and worked very hard to adapt and keep up with the Benvironment and I would be an excellent addition to the team. Sincerely,

Trial shift at a restaurant and deli, worked hard for 3 hours serving tons of customers during lunch rush hour, and cleaning tables and collecting dirty plates, tableware and other rubbish. All

this just to be rejected a week later. I did the job properly too and adapted well despite having no experience (yes, I lied about my experience but no one wants to give an interview to an entry level 18 year old).

I sent an email in response to this, clearly, low effort rejection email (second slide). I saw someone else, on this job subreddit or another, say that replying to a

rejection email might get you an offer since it might be automated. So I'm going to try that.

Yachem 13 hr. ago The trial shift is weird. There's a non-zero chance you were just exploited for a day. That said, always remember job interviews are competitions. Just

because you check every box doesn't mean you are just given the job. If someone else did it better than you, they're getting it.

sensoredphantomz OP. 12 hr. ago That's true. I just wish they did interviews and then gave trial shifts to successful candidates rather than making you work so hard and then choosing successful candidates. I was desperate for a job so I did the trial shift but I won't do this ever again.

Koermondoduderawks 12 hr. ago Call the labor authority as they owe you 3 hours of wages

sensoredphantomz OP · 12 hr. ago I think it's legal in the UK so I'm not sure how successful that'd be

riiiiiich. 12 hr. ago Never offer free labour. It devalues the cost of it to these bastards who would exploit it.

Effective_Badger_798 · 13 hr. ago sorry but i have to say. They want free labor...
  • 16
sensoredphantomz OP 12 hr. ago I realise that now

TheDissolutionist · 12 hr. ago Never, ever, ever do a "trial" shift making someone money who isn't compensating you or given you a formal offer. Now you know why.

LetsChatt23. 12 hr. ago What state is this in? Is this even allowed? What if there is an accident, are you eligible for WC? lol
  • 19
    • sensoredphantomz OP · 12 hr. ago I'm in london, uk. Apparently it's allowed but many agree it should be illegal.

Impossible_Resort_71. 13 hr. ago They do trial shifts for waiters? I dunno what's more wild that or the fact that you actually gave them free labor during lunch rush. There's a million restaurants out there hiring waiters

sensoredphantomz OP. 12 hr. ago I know it's pretty stupid but I really needed the job. I've been looking for over a year and had no successful interviews out of the 6 I've had now. Just taking any and every offer that comes to me. I'm not doing a trial shift again though. Learned my lesson.

juliusseizure. 12 hr. ago First of all their loss. Second of all, working hard to trying and achieve/get something is never a waste. That work ethic is what will get you over the hump eventually.

rjones2688 11 hr. ago In the restaurant industry this is common practice but 3 hours is extreme. I've had plenty of 1 hour trials and I always got the job after. To have u work for 3 hours then reject you is wild

sensoredphantomz OP 2 hr. ago Thanks! I didn't know if it was too pushy at first.
